Science Vision is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary science journal published by the Mizo Academy of Sciences. From 2001 to 2008 it was published as a comprehensive journal for science education. In 2009, peer reviewing was introduced as Mizoram experienced an increased development in scientific research. It became the first peer-reviewed journal with standard indexing from Mizoram. It also began to run an online edition and adopted an open access policy in 2010.
Brief history
The first issue of Science Vision was launched in March 2001. Its publication was supported by the Mizoram Science, Technology and Innovation Council (MISTIC), under the Department of Planning (now under the Directorate of Science and Technology), Government of Mizoram. The Registrar of Newspapers for India, Government of India, allotted a registration number RNI MIZBIL/2001/4252. Articles of scientific information were then published quarterly.
To keep pace with the growing scientific research among members of the society, fueled by the development of research institutes in Mizoram such as Mizoram Univeristy, Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Institute, and Central Agricultural University, it started to publish peer-reviewed articles in 2009. In November that year, the ISSN National Centre for India, National Science Library, National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAR), New Delhi, India, assigned ISSN 0975-6175 for the print edition vide NSL/ISSN/INF/2009-10 of 10/11/2009. An online edition was immediately started, so that by the next year NISCAIR gave another ISSN 2229-6026 for the online edition, vide NSL/ISSN/INF/2010-11 of 16/11/2010.
In 2019, the Mizo Academy of Sciences became Crossref member and the journal became indexed with DOI number on 23 January 2019. On 25 January 2019, the International CODEN Service, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society, assigned CODEN SVCIC9.
